Upon arrival, the venue had a waiting line outside and security was monitoring the head count quite closely. You could hear the music pulsating, you could see the flashing lights and the shadows of people dancing through the windows. Anticipation began to mount as I waited for my turn to enter.
G: We pull from multiple influences when we are writing music, Some of them we could say would be. The Beatles, Foo Fighters, and Red hot chili peppers.
CC: We’ve gained quite a following in the Midwest? Someone should have told us! We’re definitely still coming up in the industry, and it’s a challenging process. Lately we’ve been putting in a lot of work behind the scenes. Contacting producers/rapper/other artists for collaborations trying to book soundcloud plays shows and marketing. There’s actually a lot to do behind the scenes, and we’re still learning about how it all works.
CC: It’s hard to label the scene, especially for hip-hop. The West Coast and East Coast have these iconic rappers and conjure very specific sounds. The Midwest has famous artists from Chicago and Detroit, but there’s so much outside of these cities. It’s a place that’s very open to various musical styles and fans adore artists. Your favorite act doesn’t roll through the Midwest as often as L.A. or New York, so when they come, we make sure to show love and prove that we can go as hard as the rest of them.
G: The Getout formed in late winter of 2012, as a four piece. We later became a 5 piece band in early september. adding rythm guitarist Jacob Stoddard. Alex Jackson (Drums), Khristian Miske (Vocals), and Dino Fallone (Lead Guitar) Started out by jamming covers on the acoustic.

The cool thing about living in 2013 is that technology (and the digital age) has made taking steps towards pursuing hobbies, passions, and careers very accessible. DJing is an excellent example of this. What was once limited by cost of entry, learning curve, and other factors is now somewhat negated by the advent of the Internet. That’s not to say that the Internet will make you a good DJ, but it definitely makes it easier to get started.
